WOW! Those Cowboys sure know how to throw a fancy shin-dig! With Wrestling Greats from across the province, exceptional athletes and coaches at every table, the Cochrane Ranche House was packed with Alberta’s finest. The evening promised to be full of fabulous food and friendship, laughter and celebration, and words of wisdom not soon forgotten!
Paul Ragusa, the keynote speaker of the evening, is the U of C Dino’s Coach and coached 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist Erica Wiebe to her victory. Paul challenged the eager listeners with the ins and outs of working hard, wrestling hard, and giving it all you’ve got. Amazing speech with equally dramatic presentation. Many thanks to a well respected and seasoned coach!
The parade of wrestling elite accepting awards and recognition for their accomplishments was inspirational. There was not a dry eye in the house after Elham Heidari accepted her Outstanding Officials Award.
Among the amazing group of award recipients were two Cowboys Alumni and a current Cowboys’ Wrestler. Sarah, Callum and Connor – you’ve made your Cowboys Family proud!! Other Cowboys alumni were honored with their team awards – AWESOME work Cowboys!
Silent Auction
The Silent Auction was a huge success for the Cowoys club. Many companies in and around Cochrane and Calgary area generously donated items to boost the fundraising cause. The bidding was fierce but the reward was grand – and in some cases delicious!
The banquet was the perfect kick off to a much anticipated 2017 Alberta Open Tournament. Stay tuned for more photos and news updates on the premiere wrestling event of the season!
